WEALTHWork #2

So, how did you do with your first WEALTHWork assignment? Did you come up with your list of things you love and don’t love to do? Good job if you did. If you didn’t, why didn’t you? That’s a whole ‘nother lesson in that for you. Let’s assume you did.

The next questions I want you to answer are?

1) What percentage of your time during your ‘work’ day DO you spend time doing what you love?

and…

2) What percentage of your time do you spend doing what you don’t love?

Once you have those two questions answered, ask yourself this final question:

Who could you get to do some or all of those things that you don’t want to do and How could you get them to do them.

I read two amazing books a few months ago: The Four Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferris and Your Portable Empire by Pat O’Bryan. Both of these books just substantiated things I had been suspecting about work and life and making a lot of money. But even more so, they showed me HOW! They are amazing resources that deal with how to get us out of this perpetual rat race we seem to be in.

Have you noticed that almost everyone you know is ‘too busy’, exhausted from trying to do too many things, spread too thin, stressed out and aging faster than they should be? Me too. And I include myself in that category often. Luckily, I work from my home (my kitty prefers me home, what can I say) and I love the topic of my work. That’s what makes it so worthwhile and fun for me.

Well, that’s enough for now. Please answer the questions above and when you get to the last two, read the two books listed above. I promise, if you’re like everyone (literally) I have talked to who has read these two books, you won’t be able to put them down AND you’ll start evaluating how you do the ‘money’ part of your life big time!

WEALTHWork #1

OK, so here’s what’s going to happen. In our programs, we don’t have HOMEwork, we have WEALTHwork because it’s at HOME that people who end up wealthy generally do the WORK involved with getting there. So, I’m going to start providing all sorts of WEALTHwork for you to do. Here’s your challenge:

You need to TRUST THE PROCESS!!! Do not pick and choose what WEALTHwork you ‘want’ to do; just do it! I promise it all has a point! Oh, and before you start, go find/buy yourself a nice notebook or journal because this is going to propel you forward over time like you have no idea and you’re going to want to look back and see why. Others might also want to eventually read your ‘book’ because that’s what you’re about to create. We’ll call it, “Your name”‘s Journey to the Life you WANT to LEAD! Don’t you just love it?

Here’s your WEALTHwork Assignment #1:

Answer these two sentences:

The things I love doing are:

The things I don’t love doing are:

Once you get this list done, take a look at it from a funny point of view. Look at it from the viewpoint of others watching you go through your day. If you aren’t doing more of the things you love and less of the things you don’t love, here’s what I want you do to:

START LAUGHING!!! I mean it. Laugh with your whole belly. This is what we look like to others. They are wondering WHY we’re doing the things we don’t love and doing all the things we do NOT love. Now, why am I asking you to do this absurd thing? Because it IS absurd. I am doing the same thing in my life right now. I am laughing at all the things I am doing that I shouldn’t be doing because it’s not in my skillset; because it doesn’t give me a sense of purpose; because it doesn’t serve me to do those things. What am I doing in response to my laughing? Asking myself, and others, who might be the perfect person to do those things.

So, I want you to do the same exercise. Remember, I would never ask you to do something I wouldn’t do myself. Have FUN with this. It really is silly when we look at it from others points of view. And you know what the most interesting question is? OK, so you probably know by now: “How does it serve me to stay this way?”

OK, go do it. Don’t put it off. Remember, someone once said, “You miss 100% of the shots you never make.”  How many shots are YOU willing to not take in order not to make it to where you want to be?

p.s. did I mention the best part? I’m going to do my best to help you enjoy the journey also.Â
